Lawn Care & Landscaping in Pace, FL

Pace is the fastest-growing place we work.

Fresh mowing stripes across a backyard lawn beside a covered patio, with trees along the back fence

Santa Rosa County has been permitting well over a thousand new single-family homes a year, and a lot of them are going up off Quintette Road, Woodbine Road and Highway 90 in subdivisions like Stonechase and Hampton Chase. A brand-new yard is builder sod on scraped ground, and it needs different care in its first year than an established one.

That is most of what we do in Pace: weekly lawn care on new sod, mulch and plant beds where the builder left bare dirt, and paver patios and fire pits for people who bought a house with a concrete pad and a fence and want a backyard. Retaining walls and gravel areas come up on the sloped lots north of 90.

Older Pace, along Chumuckla Highway and around the Pea Ridge side, is bigger lots with bahia and centipede, pines that drop straw all year, and long driveways. Those are the yards that want a leaf and straw cleanup in fall and a pressure wash before the family comes at Thanksgiving.

Pace is served by Pace Water System, a member-owned utility, not ECUA, so watering rules and rates are different from Pensacola. Building permits for walls and raised patios go through Santa Rosa County Development Services in Milton. Pace sits about twenty minutes from the home base across the Escambia Bay bridge on a normal day, so it is inside the regular fifteen-mile route for weekly work.

Straight answers

Pace questions, answered straight

  1. Our sod was laid by the builder a few months ago. What does it need?

Water, and not to be cut too short until it has rooted. Jake sets the mower high for the first season, keeps the string trimmer off the edges of the new seams, and tells you if a section did not take so you can get the builder back before the warranty runs out.

  2. Does the HOA in our subdivision affect what you can do?

Only for projects. Most Pace HOAs care about fence lines, front-yard changes and anything visible from the street. Send us the covenants or the architectural form and we will fill in what they need for a patio or a bed.

  3. Can you do a paver patio on a sloped lot?

Yes. On the lots north of Highway 90 that usually means a low retaining wall on the downhill side and a gravel base that is compacted in lifts so the pavers do not settle. Walls under four feet do not need an engineer; taller ones we would talk through first.

  4. Do you charge extra to come to Pace?

No. Pace is inside our normal fifteen-mile service area. The only surcharge we have is for genuine after-hours emergency call-outs, and we tell you before we come.
